Eric + HDA = Hard Ice
    Posted by E-dizzle

I finally did it. Last Friday, with just a few analog clicks, the digital bits streamed the internets and the result left me without a high definition audio receiver. That is, until last Saturday(22) when I received two FedEx packages four days earlier than expected. I feel I will finally be integrated into the ranks of the HDTPC (High Def Total Package Club). I am currently the one and only member of said club, but I will be accepting apps in the near future. As you may or may not know, a receiver is quite useless without support. By support, I mean speakers.

Amazing stuff with the PlayStation Eye
    Posted by Ran

Check out the crazy stuff they’re working on at the PlayStation R&D with the PlayStation Eye. The last video of the tank game is simply amazing. I’d play that for days. I like this comment about it on Digg:

How long will it take for someone to photo their penis and use it in that tank game.
My prediction is about 2 seconds after I get the game and the PS eye.

    DivX coming to next-gen consoles
    Posted by Ran

I read a short blurb the other day about speculations regarding DivX support for the XBox 360. While it is in no way confirmed, one could definitely see how it’s evidence of things to come.

This is not the case on the Playstation 3 side. DivX release an official press release stating that…

“We are excited to work with Sony Computer Entertainment to bring DivX to PS3,” said Kevin Hell, CEO of DivX, Inc. “Our technology will expand the multimedia functionality of PS3 by enabling users to enjoy access to the broad library of content in the DivX digital media format.”

    This is definitely good news.

    Say hello to the G-Phone

Well, actually there is no Google Phone. Instead, it’s a platform that can be installed—usually by the manufacturer—onto almost any smart phone. The trick is for the companies and service providers to go along with it. So far T-Mobile seems to be the most friendly towards Android, while Sprint is warming up to it as well. On the phone front, Sony Ericsson and Samsung are likely partners.

Unlike most people, I don’t have an addiction to the snooze button. I turn off the alarm and then either get up or oversleep. Luckily the former happens more than the latter. But for you snooze junkies out there, this is the alarm clock for you.

Called the SnūzNLūz, this clock connects to the internet either via WiFi or a cable. You then set it up with your bank account and select an organization you despise. Now every time you hit that snooze button, you automatically donate a predetermined amount to your enemies. Break free from the binding chains of the snooze button at ThinkGeek.

    iConcert Calendar
    Posted by Ran

If you have iTunes then you should definitely get this free plug-in. It looks up all the artists you have in your iTunes and then lists their show dates, if any, up to several months into the future. The new version also lists new album release dates of your artists. Above is screen shot of my show date calendar. The weekend of September 14-16 is ACL (2007 lineup), hence the jam packed shows. Another new feature is the ability to share calenders with people. Not really sure how well it works yet. But type in my user name: cygnus183 (duh) and see if my calendar comes up. Then let me know your user name, I wanna see this feature in action.
