I went to two weddings this past Saturday. The first is the wedding of Eric and Stephanie. Matt was the best man and the whole group was there. It was pretty much the same as when we would all normally hang out except the setting is a wedding. Then after that we headed to Tim and Amber’s wedding. We were supposed to show up just for the reception but we ended up catching the tail end of the actual ceremony, thereby almost ruining it. But not really.

Afterwards, Andrew, Matt, Sarah and I went to see Knocked Up which was hilarious by the way. So hilarious that Matt got sick and left for the last third of the movie. Actually I think the film was slightly out of focus (which I didn’t notice) and it gave him a killer migraine and made him noxious.

On Sunday we celebrated Matt’s birthday by having a pool party at my apartment, followed by dinner at P. F. Chang’s. It was a busy but fun weekend.

It was raining with sleet mixed in. So after I parked in my usual garage downtown at 5th and Guadalupe I had to quickly grab a cab. A few blocks and $5 later I was at La Zona Rosa. And I arrived just as Ted Leo was starting their set. I didn’t really care for the opening band. The venue was very personal and I got to be pretty close to the band. What a great show! They ended up playing a lot of my favorites from their older stuff.

I took some pictures as well as videos of a few select songs. It’ll take some time to convert and upload the videos so those will have to wait. But here are the pics. The lighting wasn’t really ideal, especially for ultra compact cameras. It could’ve been easier, but the band doesn’t really stay still enough for a no-flash, long exposure, shot. So I had to compensate with flash and dialing up the EV a few steps and also maxing out the ISO. Given those factors, the pictures turned out better than I thought. It was only lightly raining after the show so I decided to walk back to the car. I don’t know what it was, but walking in the rain on a cold night felt really nice. Maybe cuz it got a little hot in there with all the jumping up and down.

Halloween on 6th should be experienced by everyone at least once, the atmosphere is just awesome. Matt was shooting a music video. No, I didn’t dress up, although it might seem like I went as “cool guy”. But i was just wearing Sarah’s sunglasses.
