    Zombie Strippers
    Posted by E-dizzle

Zombie Strippers, a film about love, romance, conviction, and desire. I’m just kidding it was freaking zombie strippers, a movie about strippers that were soon turned to zombies. What a concept! I want to believe someone has thought of this before, but only Jay Lee had it in him to do it, and did it well. I knew what I was getting into but I was still surprised with the results.

    Clinton has a chance?

As a big Obama supporter I was quite confident with our inevitable current chances of winning the nomination, but after seeing this video, I think Hillary might have a chance of her own. We shall soon see.

    The Dragons Dance Ever Closer
    Posted by E-dizzle

According to George R. R. Martin, a good source considering he is the author, has said he expects to be be finished with his latest entry in the Song of Ice and Fire series by June meaning a Fall release. Suffice it to say I am overcome with excitement. The book will be titled A Dance with Dragons. And they have cover pages!!

    English is a crazy language
    Posted by E-dizzle

An interesting essay I just read about the English language written by Charlie Indelicato, cleverly written and poignant.

Let’s face it — English is a crazy language. There is no egg in eggplant
nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins
weren’t invented in England or French fries in France. Sweetmeats are
candies while sweetbreads, which aren’t sweet, are meat.

We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that
quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is
neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

    I’m out fifty cent
    Posted by E-dizzle

So Ran and I went to the cineplex for one of our every-so-often twofers. Basically we watch two movies for the price of one. It is not an advertised special, but most theaters offer it with minimal hassle. Yesterday it was Be Kind, Rewind followed by Vantage Point. Our super ticket was $8.75, not a bad price these days, but I still feel slightly cheated.

Eric + HDA = Hard Ice
    Posted by E-dizzle

I finally did it. Last Friday, with just a few analog clicks, the digital bits streamed the internets and the result left me without a high definition audio receiver. That is, until last Saturday(22) when I received two FedEx packages four days earlier than expected. I feel I will finally be integrated into the ranks of the HDTPC (High Def Total Package Club). I am currently the one and only member of said club, but I will be accepting apps in the near future. As you may or may not know, a receiver is quite useless without support. By support, I mean speakers.

    Sunshine
    Posted by E-dizzle

Only a true poet could find the words necessary to describe to you what I was witness to tonight at the theatre. I have been awaiting the release of Sunshine for a month or so now with only the expectation of, hopefully there won’t be any ridiculous Hollywood science. I left the theatre with a feeling of overwhelming awe. The word that comes to mind to attempt at quantifying the experience is majestic, but there is still not enough meaning to be found in such a trivial word. If I knew Latin, I think I might be able to find the perfect phrase to describe what this radiating feelings coming from inside me is expressing, but I don’t so you will just have to try and imagine it for yourself.

I have never felt so attached to a movie, its characters, and its outcome so fervently before. I can’t really relate with our sun dying and humanities last hope is a team of experts sent in to jump-start it. The closest thing is when the Spurs are down and have the opportunity to score the game-winning bucket. Looking over what I just wrote can you really compare the two? I cannot recommend this movie enough to anyone, even if SciFi isn’t your style, this film just does so much right, I am still amazed an hour later.

No joke, during the walk to the car Ran and I had absolutely nothing to say. There was nothing in need of being said, we were both there, we both watched the masterpiece with equal intensity and astonishment, and we each knew that silence was required to fully absorb and personally reflect on the event that had recently completed. Do yourself a favor and see this movie. Do someone else a favor and tell them to see this movie. You will not be disappointed.

    96% and counting
    Posted by E-dizzle

The usual tuesday outing to the Kilt was a good one. The strive to reach “regular status”, after tonight, is at 96%. I don’t know what constitutes a Benjamin, but whatever keeps us going back is a good thing.

So what comprises 96% you ask? Walking into the bar there was immediate greetings, not from the hostess but from two other girls met over the months. Following the completely voluntary hugs from the ladies, a table was found and a chair was used. During the course of the night I watched Man U go down to AC Milan 3-0 , a rerun, but hey, it was new to me, and I was sad. This lasted only a short time, as soon the offer of free beer was offered. That always makes things better.

After stories about the family and the douche bags that happen to be sitting in the same section as me were winding down the decision was made to get out of there. Two fingers tossed and only a few dollars loss, I made my way out to a trail of smiles and feeling like a hoss.

Just who was being tortured in Captivity?
    Posted by E-dizzle

Over the weekend I finally got to see one of my most anticipated films of the Summer, now before I get into it, let me first tell you my love of horror films, generally the more twisted the better. I don’t need giant bugs terrorizing cities, just some person who wants other people to not continue their current state of, you know, living. The movie of which I speak is Captivity. A timeless tale of an obsessive creep adoring fan who kidnaps invites a famous beautiful beautiful model for a little torture tea and crumpet action. There was some controversy before the flick hit the screen. One was over a fairly disturbing billboard ad:

But that’s the point of movie, right? And the other probably stemming from this is when the media started dubbing this movie and others of its ilk as “torture porn”. I’m not sure if either of these media spun sensationalistic stories changed anything box office wise, I’m guessing it turned some people away and brought in some others. (hopefully the “others” weren’t in my theatre). Anyway, back the point of the post, my opinion of the show. It was awesome.

    The End???
