S Africa Chinese ‘become black’
Posted by Ran

The High Court in South Africa has ruled that Chinese South Africans are to be reclassified as black people.

It made the order so that ethnic Chinese can benefit from government policies aimed at ending white domination in the private sector.

The Chinese Association of South Africa took the government to court, saying its members had been discriminated against.

An estimated 200,000 ethnic Chinese live in South Africa.

The association said their members often failed to qualify for business contracts and job promotions because they were regarded as whites.

The association said Chinese South Africans had faced widespread discrimination during the years of apartheid when they had been classified as people of mixed race.

Shields vs. Time Warner Cable
Posted by Ran

In an effort to reduce our monthly bills, my roommate and I decided to cancel HBO. Don’t get me wrong, I love HBO; the movies, the original series, the boxing, etc. But really, the only reason we got it is for Entourage. But since the show is currently between seasons, we would go weeks without watching anything on HBO. $10 a month ain’t much ($5 after we split it), so it’s not gonna save that much money, but I’m not about to scoff at paying less money. The cable was under Shields’s name, so he called Time Warner and told them he’d like to cut HBO in order to lower our bill a little. In the end, our monthly cable service charges went from $130 to $120. Nothing out of the ordinary right? WRONG.

What really happened was some services were subtracted and some were added. In the end, we netted a saving of $10 a month and we got to keep all the HBOs… PLUS we also got Cinemax and Starz, and their respective sibling and HD channels. But wait, there’s more. We were also upgraded to Road Runner Turbo. Which more than doubles our download speed and almost quadruples our upload speed. Not a bad deal if you ask me.

Ninja New York
Posted by Ran

Maybe you’ve heard about it from a friend who knows someone who once saw it, or maybe you had no idea it existed. Such is the mystery surrounding the restaurant known only as Ninja. Ninja is a brilliant themed restaurant in the heart of New York City. The atmosphere is an underground ninja compound and your servers are ninjas who’ll sneak up on you and make menus appear while you’re not looking. The dishes have a mysterious flair to them, some accompanied by swords. If you’re lucky enough to find yourself in NYC, be smart and visit this place. How many times can you say that you were waited on by ninjas?
