I’ve settled into a morning routine at work. It involves getting one or two breakfast tacos (depending on how hungry I am) and then picking up the New York Times for free at the School of Business.
Even though all the stories can be found online, there’s just something satisfying about reading a real newspaper… specially while having breakfast. Anyway, that’s the reason I’ve been posting news articles from the Times lately. Plus, I actually feel like I’m getting smarter by reading the Times. They’re the only ones with titles like “Foreign fighters of violent bent bolster Taliban“.

The application process is very cumbersome and prohibitive, and the test…
Based on Britain’s national driving exam, the K53 effectively requires an applicant to imagine that he is driving a live claymore mine under assault by guerrillas in bumper cars. The hand brake must be engaged silently at all stops (ratchet-clicking is strictly forbidden), and all mirrors must be checked every seven seconds. Points are deducted for glancing at the gearshift, driving too slowly, failing to ensure that head- and taillights are securely attached, failing to check the play on the clutch pedal, failing to look beneath the car for leaks and several score other sins. There are many ways to fail instantly, including permitting one’s automobile to roll backward, even an inch, while stopping or starting.

If you live in an apartment this is undoubtedly good news:
The Federal Communications Commission, hoping to reduce the rising costs of cable television, is preparing to strike down thousands of contracts this week that gave individual cable companies exclusive rights to provide service to an apartment building, the agency’s chairman says.

So the newly redesigned WRX STi was unveiled this week at the Tokyo Auto Show. My reaction to it was completely underwhelming. I can deal with hot hatches, but I have never fancied wagons. Apart from that, I think the whole redesign of the Impreza line has been a failure, especially compared to their arch-rival, the Mitsubishi Lancer.
To validate my point, I have provided a picture comparison of the two after the jump. Keep in mind that what we have here is the WRX STi, which is the “premium, more aggressive” trim of the WRX. And what we’re comparing it to is the normal Evolution X, not the Ralliart Edition.
Read what car and driver has to say when they tested the Evo X and the WRX.

Check out the short film “Melody” made by Matt Ryan and several other talented individuals. It’s part of Apple’s Insomnia Film Festival where teams have just 24 hours to shoot, edit and submit their film. Follow the link to watch and vote for Melody. Watch Making Melody: Part One, a behind the scenes documentary after the jump ↓
Note: Vote = Rate. There’s a sign in/sign up process. It’s quicker if you already have an Apple ID (one that you use to buy from iTunes for example). In either case, it really doesn’t take that long.

The song you’re hearing now is probably the sweetest song ever… to proposition a threesome. Expand for lyrics.

Go to FreeRice.com and see how expansive your vernacular is. For each word you get right, they’ll donate 10 grains of rice. Not a bad deal if you ask me.
